The bear orphanage
This is the only place in Europe where bear cubs that for various reasons became orphans have a chance at a normal life in the wild. Without us, these bears would have a miserable life in illegal enclosures, or at best they would go to zoos or sanctuaries.

WHERE ARE WE?
The project area is in the heart of the Hășmaș Mountains near the Olt Springs.
The closest localities are Gheorgheni and Bălan, both being about 15 km away.
WHAT MAKES IT POSSIBLE?
After many observations we realized that all the behavioral characteristics that ensure the survival of the bear cubs are not learned from the mother, but are instinctive, genetically coded. If we manage to not alter these traits, rehabilitation becomes possible.

The center has been operating for 15 years, during which time we have successfully released around 150 bears
